Death in Rainbow Families' family - Mark Seagraves

Mark Anthony Seagraves, 57 of Prussia Rd., Waverly, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Facility in Portsmouth, OH. Mark was recently diagnosed with renal cancer which subsequently spread to his bones.

He was born on June 21, 1950 in Port Clinton, OH and is the son of Jeanette Cora Seagraves (Wicks) of Waverly and the late Charles Denver Seagraves (January 17, 1984).


Surviving are 4 sisters: Deanna Cushing of Waverly, Connie Hill of Santa Monica, CA, Elizabeth Sanders of Williamsburg, OH and Patricia Grisar of the Dominican Republic; as well as 2 brothers: Fred Seagraves of Grove City, OH and John Seagraves of Waverly as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his cat, Oreo.

Preceeded in Mark's death are 2 brothers Charles Seagraves (May 5, 2006) of Canal Winchester, OH, and Jeffrey Seagraves (October 10, 2007) of Waverly and 1 sister, Kristine Seagraves (February 6, 2004) of Waverly.

Mark entered the Pike County Developmental Disabilities Program (MRDD) in 1976 where he attended for 31 years. He was a devoted and loving son, continuing to assist his mother in the home up until his illness. Mark was a gentle and loving brother and uncle and will be deeply missed.

Friends may call Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Botkin Funeral Home from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. A memorial celebration of his life will be at 1:00 p.m. Barry Valentine of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness will preside.

Mark will be laid to rest following the service at the Evergreen Cemetary on Denver Road alongside Kristine and Jeffrey. Friends are welcome to join the family at the residence following the burial.

Memorial contributions are requested in lieu of flowers.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love and kindness expressed during Mark's care to members of the Pleasant Hill Manor Nursing Home in Piketon, the Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe and especially the Southern Ohio Medical Center - Hospice Facility in Portsmouth.
