Yes, I
did have 3 girls and their mothers with me. Dra was not available at the
moment to do the electrocardiogram and echocardiogram for Antonia. The
assisting doctor did the tests and was going to give them to Dra T. Dra did
examine Maria Isabel and did an EKG and ECG. She needs follow-up tests done
on her thyroid. She had heart arrhythmia in November when she was in the
hospital in Santiago but apparently was due to pneumonia. The other little
Haitian girl (can't remember her name right now) needs an open-heart surgery
operation as soon as possible. She is on the waiting list as soon as the docs
from U.S. come again.
A cousin of Jacobo came to see me this morning about a 22 year-old boy with
heart problem. I told him to bring the boy and his records. Last time I was
at Plaza de la Salud I asked Dra if they had a foundation for adults. She
referred me to the administrator. Perhaps I can get this kid in soon.
Well, the tires weren't so good after all. The roads here are so bad,
especially with so much rain eroding the roads. The mechanic that checked the
car before I bought it told me what kind of tires to buy, highway versus in
city. He checked over the car and needs about $200 worth of work. I postponed
it for now. The mechanic is working near Punta Cana and comes back for
holidays and long weekends. Yesterday was Labor Day here and he was here but
I didn't have the money to send with him to buy the parts in Santo Domingo on
his way here.
I am at the Plaza de la Salud with 2 little girls and Antonia. Antonia had
the heart valve replacement 3 years ago in Feb. and she must have a checkup
at least each year. In addition she must take meds each day, the rest of her
life as well as an antibiotic injection once a month. Also, I have a little
Haitian girl with me that appear to have arrhythmia and the twin girl Maria
Isabel who has arrhythmia. We are waiting for the doctor to come out of
surgery.
